Amanda Bowman

Research
Amanda is an inorganic chemist who is interested in the study of transition metal compounds, especially those that exhibit spin-crossover behavior. Spin-crossover compounds are molecules that undergo a dramatic change in magnetic behavior due to changes in external conditions such as temperature, pressure, and light. These compounds have potential applications as molecular switches, for data storage, and as optical indicators of temperature. A variety of techniques such as NMR spectroscopy, EPR spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility measurements, X-ray crystallography, and computational chemistry are used to study these compounds and evaluate their potential applications.
